Marion Zimmer Bradley is the creator of the popular Darkover universe, as well as the critically acclaimed author of the bestselling ‘The Mists of Avalon’ and its sequel, ‘The Forest House’. She lives in Berkeley, California.

Robert Carter

Robert Carter was brought up in the Midlands and later on the shores of the Irish Sea. He was educated in Britain, Australia and the United States, then worked for some years in the Middle East and remote parts of Africa, before joining the BBC in London in 1982. His interests have included astronomy, pole-arm fighting, canals, collecting armour, steam engines, composing music and enjoying the English countryside, and he has always maintained a keen interest in history. He lives in West London.

Sara Douglass

Sara Douglass was born in Penola, South Australia, and spent her early working life as a nurse. Rapidly growing tired of starched veils, mitred corners and irascible anaesthetists, she worked her way through three degrees at the University of Adelaide, culminating in a PhD in early modern English history. Sara Douglass currently teaches medieval history of La Trobe University, Bendigo and escapes academia through her writing.

Lynn Flewelling

Lynn Flewelling was born in Presque Isle, Maine, in 1958. She has had a variety of jobs including, house painter, sales clerk, teacher, and copy writer. Among her favourite writers and influences are: Tom Stoppard, Mary Renault, Umberto Eco, Stephen King, Peter Straub, Ray Bradbury, and Anne Rice. Lynn Flewelling currently lives in western New York, with her husband Doug.

Julian May

Julian May published her first story — the sf classic ‘Dune Roller’ — in the 1950s, and then wrote non-fiction and children’s books for many years before the phenomenally successful ‘Saga of the Exiles’. Prolific, thoughtful and ever imaginative, her novels have been published for years to wide acclaim around the world. She lives in Seattle.

Clive Barker

Clive Barker was born in Liverpool in 1952. His earlier books include ‘The Books of Blood’, ‘Cabal’, and ‘The Hellbound Heart’. In addition to his work as a novelist and playwright, he also iilustrates, writes, directs and produces for stage and screen. His films include ‘Hellraiser’, ‘Hellbound’, ‘Nightbreed’ and ‘Candyman’. Clive lives in Beverly Hills, California.

Megan Lindholm

Robin Hobb is one of the world’s finest writers of epic fiction. She was born in California in 1952 but raised in Alaska. She raised her family, ran a smallholding, delivered post to her remote community, all at the same time as writing stories and novels. She succeeded on all fronts, raising four children and becoming an internationally best-selling writer. She lives in Tacoma, Washington State.
