Want to see George R.R. Martin & Robin Hobb in conversation?

Next month, HarperVoyager will host an event with two of our incredible authors, George RR Martin and Robin Hobb. The event will take place in a central London venue on 19th August 2014. Tickets for #GeorgeandRobin will go on sale later this week.

Tickets will be £45 each and will include a hardback copy of Robin Hobb’s latest novel Fool’s Assassin.

This unique event offers readers the perfect opportunity to spend an evening listening to two of the world’s greatest storytellers, discussing how they build their fictional universes, create their characters and balance fantasy and reality; about their influences and inspirations, their struggles and successes.

Publishing Director, Jane Johnson said ‘This is a uniquely exciting event, bringing together two of the greatest storytellers in modern fiction talking candidly about their writing lives. I have worked with them both for years, but in all that time I’ve never had the chance to eavesdrop on them in conversation: I can’t wait.’

Charlie Redmayne, CEO of HarperCollins UK, said, ‘We’re thrilled to have George and Robin together for such an event – they are two experts at their craft, and have taken fantasy writing to the widest possible audience through their amazing worlds and characters. HarperCollins is immensely proud to publish both authors. I, for one, am hugely looking forward to attending this event.’

Live Streaming from blinkbox Books

The event is sponsored by ebook retailer blinkbox Books. In support of their pledge to bring readers closer to authors, they will be streaming the fullevent  for free – live and exclusively – on their Facebook page.

HarperCollins is anticipating huge demand for tickets. HarperVoyager and blinkbox Books newsletter subscribers will be first to hear about tickets. Sign up here: http://bit.ly/GeorgeAndRobin

pretty sure there page might only be viewable in the UK. i live in aus and that link just goes to my homepage?

          • Admin

Hi all, thanks for flagging this & Todd, thank you for letting us know that it might be a location based issue. It is visible in the UK, but others seem to be having issues viewing it. We will raise this with blinkbox Books to see if there is anything they can do to resolve the issue.

  3. That’s fantastic news about the free livestream!

  4. Two terrific authors I’ve been reading for many years. So very different in style, yet they have something in common – they write high fantasy to a level where you can close your eyes and feel as if you are there, either in the ruthless and fascinating world of ice and fire, or adventuring in the magical and often spiritual world created by Hobb.

    Hurrah for both.

  5. Mish Varney

Is there more information on ticket release; “later this week” is annoyingly vague, my partner is taking the day off work to have the kids so that I can travel to London for this event so I’ll be booking a ticket as soon as they’re available. will it be an evening or day time thing? I’m travelling by train so want to make sure I can get there and back in good time.
